A Colorow Elementary student is rewarded with a spin in a human hamster ball as part of a fund-raising incentive.
When the Colorow Elementary Ute Bears look back on their school year, Inflatables Day will be one memory they’ll likely never forget. The outdoor party let the kids kick off their shoes, and go a little nuts. This all-school celebration was a reward for students taking part in some fundraising. They didn’t go door to door as they had in the past. Instead, the school decided to ditch catalog sales and sponsored a fun run instead.
“It’s our first time doing the fun run here. It was something we talked about over the summer to try and shift away from a lot of that door-to-door sales and trying to find a healthier alternative,” explained Colorow Principal Lori Young.” We just love that it’s just a whole school activity. Everybody participates. Everybody gets to reap the rewards of the prizes too.”
“The kids’ faces say it all. We definitely don’t get to see the joy when they do the catalog sales,” added PTA President Gina Grass. “Watching them do the fun run, and then the inflatable day is great for us.”
Several different inflatables were set up for students to explore, including an obstacle course, but the biggest hit was the human hamster ball.
“Whether you’re in it, or under it, they have a blast with that one,” said Young.
Although, soaking Principal Young with a variation on the dunk tank may have been a very close second. Young took it all in stride. Lucky for her, it was a nice sunny day.
“It’s a great community activity that really brings everybody together,” she said.
