I am a parent in the Jeffco school district. I have watched the new Board majority closely, attending most meetings. I was a volunteer who carried a petition this summer. I support the recall because it is the only way to regain local control of our schools.
The Board majority is backed by outside interests who are pushing a political agenda and have no interest in what’s good for the students of Jeffco. Julie William’s TV commercials, alone, are estimated at $750,000 and funded by the Independence Institute. Americans for Prosperity (funded by the billionaire Koch brothers) has sent five mailers in support of the majority. Why do they care about what’s happening in Jeffco?
Jeffco is ground zero in a national effort to defund our neighborhood schools. We have a long tradition of choice, through 18 home-grown charter schools, 13 option schools, and many award-winning neighborhood schools.
Let’s not allow the majority to “fix” something that’s not broken. Jeffco should continue to engage in incremental improvement, collaborating with students, teachers, parents, community and business members. We don’t need their reforms.

We are Jeffco, let’s take our schools back. Enough of the partisan politics of the Board majority. I fully support the following candidates: Ali Lasell, Amanda Stevens, Brad Rupert, Susan Harmon & Ron Mitchell. These are all involved Jeffco leaders who have a track record of supporting all Jeffco students.
